CR – Sunday March 20, 2011 Day 9

Day 9

Today, we returned to Heredia. We had a buffet breakfast in an open air restaurant at the hotel. We sat by the pool in perfect weather, waiting for Sonya and Orlando to pick us up. We headed to La cuidad de Puntarenas, which is a point in a peninsula in the Pacific ocean . We sat in a small restaurant by the ocean, watched ships go by, and had cool drinks and a snack. The small town was crowded because there was a major soccer game between the people of Puntarenas and San Jose.

Instead of using the highway, Orlando decided to take us home via the scenic route in the mountains. You can translate the word scenic to mean hair-raising! Lee wanted to sleep in the car, but couldn’t bring himself to close his eyes. Ginger was preoccupied talking to Sonya and didn’t seem to notice the danger. At one point, Orlando slamped on the car breaks and pulled to the side of the road to purchase some flowers to eat! Yes,there are some white flowers that grow for only one month near Good Friday and people cook them and they are a special food called Flor de Itabo. We’ll let you know how they tast.

We got to San Joaquin, just next to Heredia and ate a big lunch in one of the families favorite lunch places. By then, we were so full, Ginger was able to resist her only addiction — ice creme. When we arrived home, we all took a long nap and had cereal with fruit for dinner.

Tomorrow begins our second week of classes.
